dear all, looking forward to seeing you all this w/e.
we are at 62, fieldgate st, london e1 1es which is in the whitechapel
on the corner of parfett st and fieldgate st ...when you're on our
street, look for a huge red brick derelect building - we're opposite.
tel 0044 (0)207 377 9088...if you are already in england 0207 377 9088,
and if you are already in london, you just need to dial 73779088
if you go to the street map website, and enter the postcode 'e1 1es', it
will bring up a map which is printable and readable!
the nearest tube stations are aldgate east (whitechapel gallery exit) or
whitechapel, if you're asking people on the street for directions, you
want the street behind the east london mosque.
if you come by bus, ask for the east london mosque or the whitechapel
if you want to phone us, payphones in major transport hubs usually take
euros and sterling.
ARRIVALS FROM ABROAD, THEN ACCOMMODATION, THEN FOOD...
so if you're arriving at heathrow get on the tube (every 10 - 15 mins,=20
nearly =C2=A36) and change at earl's court, glouchester rd or south
kensington for the district line eastbound to aldgate east or
if you're coming into stanstead, you can get the train to liverpool
street station, which costs =C2=A312 (every 20 minutes), or the bus to
stratford, which costs =C2=A36.
FROM LIVERPOOL ST STATION, TAKE THE 205 BUS TO WHITECHAPEL (=C2=A31)
FROM STRATFORD, TAKE THE 25 BUS (=C2=A31) FROM STRATFORD BROADWAY TOWARDS
WHITECHAPEL, OR THE TUBE which is a couple of changes and costs a bit
the 205 comes from paddington via euston and kings cross, so if that's
where you arrive...
...and if you're arriving at victoria take the tube, district line
...or from waterloo, northbound on the northern line one stop to
embankment and then eastbound on the district line.
accommodation...please bring a sleeping bag and mat. you'll be staying
at larc or a lovely new space round the corner, if you're not staying
with your friends...there are a couple of places in flats, but we're
keeping them 'in reserve' for people whose health doesn't permit them to
sleep on floors easily any more.
food....in london is ridiculously expensive, so we'll be providing food
at =C2=A31 a meal, donations for breakfast.
alcohol is reasonably expensive here, and hopefully you won't need to
spend too much on transport, but if you smoke, bring your own cigarettes
as 20 fags costs nearly =C2=A35 here...in fact, if somebody bought a few
large packs of golden virginia rolling tobacco, some of us would be very
grateful to buy them off you!!
